Good stuff...

First and foremost I want to introduce you to AudioXpress (if you don’t know about them already, that is). If you are serious about audio equipment, take a look there, or better yet, try out a subscription. AudioXpress is also the parent of Old Colony Sound Lab (OCSL) selling a wealth of parts, kits, books etc to the serious hobbyist and professional audio person alike. Highly recommended.

For a wide range of technical background and (strong) opinions about the audio field, check out Douglas Self's site. Most of the material has been published at one time, and it is much more expanded on in his book Self on Audio.

If you are more into small-signal equipment like preamps, filters, low power supplies and generally areas where you could use opamps, Walt Jung has what you need. Walt is a retired Analog Devices engineer specializing in audio circuits, and has written about almost every subject in audio.

Everything about ground loops, hum, pin-1 problems: Jim Brown has it all here!

Ohh, and yes, almost forgot. I love Dilbert too!

And then there are the audio forums. My personal favorite is DIYaudio. It is well managed, the posts are generally of good quality, and they try to stop the mud-slinging that can often erupt where people with strong (opposite) convictions meet each other.

One drawback of any forum is that you can’t easily know whether somebody posts good info or just plain BS. To judge posts on their merit you really need to know the stuff, but sometimes you don’t, and you try to find info. But its a great place to hang out with fellow audio aficionados.

Not specifically dedicated to audio, but nevertheless a good technical resource for analog and embedded design: Elektor Electronics magazine. Elektor features background as well as construction articles. They frequently sell kits, pcb's or hard to get parts. They have a strong web-presence as well and allow (paid) download of single articles as well as complete issues. Beginning 1 Jan 2009 there will be a North-American edition as well. Worthwhile to check out.
